Chau is caring, meticulous, and especially skilled at both teaching and singing. She encouraged me to keep singing even when I made mistakes. She carefully explained where and why my voice was struggling and showed me how to correct it. Most importantly, she made me feel comfortable and sing confidently. Another thing about Chau is she is extremely accurate in her diagnosis of vocal problems. While singing, she could point out where my voice was strained and the disconnection between the larynx and diaphragm. It was like she could hear me inside out. That was truly amazing to experience. Chau is a patient, respectful, and professional vocal coach. I would take her lesson again and again and am certain she could help me achieve any goals I have for singing.

My highschooler started working with Ms.Kim this fall semester and has made amazing progress after only a few months! Ms.Kim is very knowledgeable and direct. She also explains well the goal and clear steps on how to do the exercises, etc. She is also very patient and professional. I recommend her very highly.

I am a complete beginner and amateur in terms of singing and was hesitant going into my first lesson. However, Chau does an amazing job at breaking concepts down and explaining things in a way that is easier to understand. She's great at meeting you where you are in terms of knowledge and skill and has seamlessly pivoted her approach when I, as a completely clueless beginner, didn't understand how to do something. All you really need to know is that Chau is simply the best vocal coach around! She understands all the ins and outs of the voice and can explain every detail precisely. There’s nothing confusing with her! Her knowledge and understanding of the voice is so top notch that she will explain it to you in the easiest way possible! I’m convinced she can turn anybody into a great singer! The scope of the people she teaches says it all! She teaches children, seniors, and everyone else in between! (myself being 24) She has no difficulty in answering questions and explaining pertinent information to a child compared to someone much older! She just has the marks of a great teacher! Her lessons are very efficient, you’ll get a lot done no doubt about it. Her extensive knowledge basically produced shortcuts for her students. She knows the easiest and fastest ways to get you to where you want to be vocally (and musically: she teaches guitar and piano too)! She uses a straight forward approach to teaching which I personally really like. There is no beating around the bush when it comes to her, she takes her job extremely seriously and truly wants her students to grow and get the most out of every lesson! She’s a very very nice woman don’t get me wrong, you’d love to be around her! She honestly is one of the friendliest people I have met! However, she’s brutally honest (in the best way possible)! She will explain what was off and help you fix it immediately, and like I said, she has the shortcuts on deck so whatever she called you out on won’t be an issue for long! I personally love her honesty, because I assume if you’re looking for a vocal coach and taking the time to read this hefty review then you’d probably want someone who calls it how it is and helps push you to grow to be the singer you want to be! Whatever genre you want to sing she can do. She is not limited to coaching only a set amount of genres. She coaches country, pop, rock etc., you name it! It really doesn’t matter what genre you prefer, she has it covered! Have a favorite song that you don’t think you can sing? No problem! She can find a way to get you singing whatever song you want. It’s crazy! She will also personally pick out specific songs for each of her students that either sound and mesh really well with their voice or have something within that song that she can use as a great teaching point to grow and push their voice! She tailors to each of her students individual goals. She works out a custom roadmap for each person that specifically addresses the areas they need to work on. It’s not a simple copy and paste program that she uses on each student. I guarantee all her student lessons look different in some way or another! Being said, it’s her aforementioned overwhelming knowledge and abilities that enable such flexibility within each lesson. This leads me to another important point worth noting. She meets you where you’re at. As stated above, she teaches a wide range of ages and has to deal with a large variety of varying skill levels. She teaches beginners (like me), and those with varying levels of experience. It doesn’t matter how well you sing, within a few lessons you’re going to improve, no if’s ands or buts about it! I also want to point out she’s not in it for the money. She loves her job and is grateful to be in the position she is in but the cool thing is that she trains her students to a level where we can be independent of her one day. It’s rare to find transparency like that but she’ll tell you day one. Considering she needs students to sustain her business it truly shows that her students are her top priority and once you get to know her you really feel that organic bond of trust. Her transparency on the matter is just one of the many examples of her great character and that is something I truly respect about her. I started this review with the information I believed you may be interested in knowing the most. However, if you want to know how my personal experience with Chau and taking lessons with her has been up till now I will speak on that here. I found Chau here on take lessons and I was desperate to find a vocal coach. All I ever wanted to do since I was a child was to sing, however, I was never really able nor had the opportunity to pursue it as I would have liked. I grew up as an athlete, playing numerous sports all the way through college but I always had a dream of becoming a singer. Singing was and has always been in the forefront of my mind. I kid you not, I think about singing every single day, it truly is all I think about. Singing is what sets my heart ablaze, and as corny as it sounds I really mean it and I’m not ashamed about it even a little. Singing has always been where my passion lies, and that’s saying something considering I don’t have much to show for it until now. Even though I’ve trained years and years and years to master my craft and was blessed with the ability to have played and competed in certain sports at the highest collegiate level; the passion I had/have, though very strong and nothing to scoff at, simply pales in comparison to the passion I have for singing. I’ve just had this burning desire to sing for what feels like my whole life! I can say without a shadow of a doubt Chau was the perfect person I needed to be my vocal coach. I ask her so many questions all the time outside of lessons and she always answers them and sometimes will even call me to make sure I fully understand whatever it is she answered for me. I was just a guy who had crazy ambition and a bold dream but who unfortunately couldn’t really sing at all. I really sounded bad, if you read this and end up taking a lesson with her you can ask her! My voice for sure shouldn’t even be in the same room as the dream I have, it was that terrible sounding but you got what you got ya know. Needless to say, with a voice that I know sounded bad and a dream that would make most people look at you with that “you can’t be serious” face, I was seriously lacking in the self confidence department (which by the way you really need if you want to be a good singer). Chau not only took what I gave her but she accepted me for who I am and continues to push me every lesson. Sharing my dream with her was something I did and didn’t want to do. I wanted to tell her because my dream is me, it excites me and it’s the driving force of why I so desperately wanted lessons, but I just didn’t want to be judged and laughed at since I was packing such weak vocals. Needless to say I did open up and tell her. And I’m so happy I did, because without her and the good Lord I wouldn’t be the singer I am today. Sure, I still have a lot to learn but I’m so much better than where I was when I started a few months ago. I’ve grown a lot from working with Chau! She had me working on warmups, pitch, placement, breathing exercises, sustaining notes, and timing (all vital to singing) to working on texture and emotional storytelling! Granted, I’m still working on all those “basic” things but I’m much better and comfortable with them now! She cares about me more than just hitting the right notes, she cares about how I am as a person and was/is a major driving force in upping my self confidence which in turn helps me sing better and progress to my full potential! I know she’s in my corner and I’m so glad that I decided to take the chance and finally pursue this dream with all I have! I really couldn’t imagine a better vocal coach for me. I honestly believe that I will achieve my goal and live out my dream one day God willing! Ask me a few months ago before I met Chau, I may not have been as optimistic. I believed in my dream sure, but I was psyching myself out since I didn’t have anyone to guide me and grow me where I needed. I was so scared it was just turning into wishful thinking simply because I didn’t know how to take action effectively. However, I know it’s possible to attain my dream and now I have a foundation I’m proud of and continue to see progress every week! Im so thankful that God crossed my paths with Chau! I’m truly and extremely grateful to Chau and for all she’s done for me. I really can’t articulate or express how grateful, words don’t do my feelings justice. Chau is great at what she does! Her teaching style is very straightforward and makes efficient use of the lesson time. However, she is still very patient to work on an area that I would struggle with, so she is very thorough that anything is fully understood. She is professional and very personable, so it made a timid singer like me really feel more comfortable and be able to actually start working on my voice.

I’ve been taking lessons with Chau for about 3 months now and I’m absolutely thrilled with the progress I’ve made. Chau is very detailed in her explanations of vocal concepts which allows me to understand what and why I’m doing what I am with my voice. You cannot go wrong with Chau as your instructor! In the time that I met with Chau, I learned so much. I normally don't feel very comfortable with strangers, especially when I'm in a position to mess up, but with Chau I felt totally accepted and successful. I am 100% beginner in singing and my native language is not English. With all these difficulties, Chau taught me from step 0. Despite the course is online, Chau is very passionate and professional when comes to teaching. I’ve just started working with chau! I can truly say that I have never felt more free with my voice and I feel as if I’ve made some major improvements in such a short time. TLDR: - Excellent understanding of voice mechanics and able to explain them in various ways until that aha moment goes off in your mind (and voice). - We worked together remotely for a year while I was living in Egypt. She was able to help me make progress through low quality ear buds (mic on a Mac is better but I didn't have one at the time). She has an almost unbelievable ability to understand how you're positioning your body (diaphragm, throat, vocal chords, lips, larynx, and even where you're aiming the sound in your mouth) to make sound. - Patient and comfortable to be around--which is important when you feel vulnerable singing. - Able to meet you where you're at whether total beginner or experienced singer. Chau is an incredible vocal coach / singing instructor. She's superb at explaining things so that you know what you're doing not just how to do it. Why is that important? Because Chau wants you to get to a point where your voice is stellar and you're free to be independent of her. That's hard to find in an instructor, because their business relies on people continuing to see them. I've worked with Chau for nearly 2 years. When I first started I felt awkward making sounds. I felt my speaking voice was robotic and monotone. I wanted to be more expressive with it--do impressions and play with my voice like when I was a kid. Chau has helped me strengthen my voice. I have control over it. I can make high and low pitched sounds easily. We're still working to strengthen my upper middle range as some would call it, but I make progress at least bi-weekly (if not every week). Sometimes my voice surprises me. Times when in the past I know my voice would crack or become light or just be awkward and all of a sudden instead it sounds relax and confident. The impact these experiences have had on my life are not quantifiable. Chau's help understanding diaphragmatic breathing has improved my ability to relax during meditation as well. Chau herself has a family of 6 and is very down to earth. You can talk with her. She's understanding and also determined. As Chau would say the voice is the most beautiful instrument there is. When you understand how to work with it (which really means letting go of bad habits we've added on top of it) it's powerful and vibrant all by itself.

I always sang in the shower or just too sing I felt like I had a future with it if I continued and took lessons so I decided too ask my mom and she signed me up with mrs Kim! It’s only been a few months since I’ve been working with her in my voice and I’ve improved so much since IMY first lesson! She’s help gotten me too we’re I am right now. Mrs Kim is such an amazing teacher. She’s is very honest and open with things you need help or need to work on. She’s also a very good singer and has amazing taste in music ! But she’s really helped me find my voice, find out if I wanna continue doing music. She’s helped a lot with my voice and overall just finding my melodys a little better because rim a dancer so I pick up melodys pretty easily but sometimes I need help with finding the exact melody and really helps. Overall I’ve loved working mrs Kim and I want to continue working with mrs kim!!

Chau is absolutely exceptional. In ONE lesson I have gotten further under her instruction than I have in years of singing on my own. Chau was able to quickly assess my strengths and weaknesses. She exercised excellent control over the class. I am looking forward to our time together.

Chau was amazing! Very friendly, welcoming and made my daughter feel at ease, instantly! My daughter left feeling so inspired and excited about going back! We drove across town and it was absolutely worth the drive! I highly recommend her!

Chau is great at what she does. She teaches my 7 year old daughter Lindsey how to sing and play piano. When we first started taking her to Chau she was very shy. She has really opened up since working with Chau and now she sings loud and proud all the time. Chau is very patient with her when she is teaching her a new technique. If Lindsey is having a hard time comprehending something, Chau will take different approaches to help her understand. She never gives up on her. Lindsey absolutely loves her lessons with Chau. I'm welcome to stay and watch but I've found that Lindsey focuses better when I'm not there. I feel very comfortable leaving Lindsey with Chau. If you're looking for a great teacher that you can trust with your kids, Chau is definitely the one!

I met Chau a little while ago, and already I have learned so much! She is always very kind, caring, patient, and upfront unlike any other instructor iv had. Each lesson is encouraging, and thanks to Ms. Chau my confidence as a vocalist is building. I can't imagine a better teacher and would defiantly recommend her!

Chau is Truly a Gifted Teacher as well as singer We found Chau Kim through our elementary school that my two kids were attending. She was the music teacher there. She was putting on Musical Programs at the school and doing a find gob at it. Both my children were interested in taking vocal lessons, so we asked if she gave private lessons. She did, and from that moment on our lives without a doubt have changed for the best. Both my kids took to her from the start. Chau is able to be bond with all ages of kids. My kids were a little rough to listen to at first, but now they bring tears of Joy when they sing. Chau helped my son get into the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts. Where he is one of the top male vocalist at his school. He now performs in Musicals through the Valley, as well gets several paying gigs around town. My daughter is in one of the top Performing Arts Colleges in New York City. So there is your proof that you will also benefit greatly from having Chau as your Vocal Teacher.
